Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Godstone Farm is a Visitor Attraction that welcomes 250,000 visitors per year. We aim
to ensure all guests are made to feel welcome and receive the best service possible.
During weekends and school holidays the farm can get very busy where the quality of
customer service, attention to detail and ensuring the health and safety at the farm is
paramount. Our team are required to be energetic, enthusiastic, responsible,
trustworthy, hardworking and reliable.
The role of the Livestock Supervisor is to ensure the welfare and display of the animals is
of the highest standard where both animals and visitors are safe. The role includes
running our livestock team effectively.
Responsibilities include:
• Working with the farm’s management team and attending meetings
• Supervising the farm team and running briefing sessions
• Staff training
• Managing the health and safety of staff and customers, with particular regard to
zoonotic diseases and the National Farm Attraction Network’s Code of Practice.
• Delegating and overseeing of jobs/tasks and passing on any information to the
farm team
• Yearly planning of key events (e.g. lambing/TB testing/weaning & breeding)
• Interacting with visitors when they ask questions
• Organising daily staff led feeding sessions
• Ability to deliver animal talks where needed
• Organising the livestock team staff rota
• Arranging visits (e.g. vets & farriers)
• Paperwork (e.g. medicine book/farm health plan & movements)
• Diagnosing and medicating health issues with the animals
• Livestock reports
• Stock control (e.g. animals/feed/hay & straw/medication)
• Ensuring all animals are fed correctly, and with a view to reducing waste and
good pest control practices
• Large and small animal handling including horses and ponies
• Foot trimming and worming of sheep and goats
• Moving livestock including pigs, cows and sheep
Please note this role will require some heavy lifting and manual labour and is not suited
to anyone with reoccurring back or neck problems. As a visitor attraction, it is also vital
you are comfortable talking to the general public and delivering animal talks and feeding
sessions where needed in a confident and energetic manner.
Experience & Qualifications
• Relevant Animal Management qualification
• Working with and leading a team of staff
• Experience working with a wide variety of animals
• Ability to drive with a trailer
